Kirriemuir sweet shop, Star Rock, made up a raffle prize of a sweet hamper including a £50 note.

This was kindly donated to Kirriemuir and Dean Area Partnership Christmas Light Fund by local resident Amanda Kopel.

A number of local business patrons displayed the hamper and sold tickets.

These included Star Rock Shop, Joshua Plumtree, Linda’s Shoe Shop, Duncan’s Jewellery and Gift Shop and Shear Beauty.

The grand total of £554 was raised from this and the winning ticket belonged to Liz Phillips.

Wendy Patterson, Star Rock Shop, presented Liz with her hamper and Heather Kelly from KDAP with a cheque last Tuesday.

Heather thanked Louise from Hamilton Kerr for taking a picture and she also thanked everyone for donating to the light fund. She said: “Thanks to the local community for getting behind the Christmas Light Fund and also a huge thank you to the local businesses for their support also. There is now a raffle going round the shops for a beautiful handbag, kindly donated by Duncan’s Jewellery and Gift Shop. Again all funds coming to the light fund.”

The lights committee first met in June and have run a number of fundraising events so far have raised well over £1300 which will all go towards the town’s Christmas light displays.
