The 2nd Forfar Company Boys’ Brigade held its annual display and presentation of awards a week past Friday.

Sixty parents and friends were entertained by all three groups - Anchor Boys, Juniors and Company Section, with figure marching, gymnastics, kite-flying and hockey, leading up to the presentation of prizes by the Rev. Barbara Ann Sweetin.

She was attending her first inspection night as the new minister of Forfar East & Old, the parent church of the company.

Sean Baird, Christy Simpson and Gareth Black gained the top BB Award, the Queen’s Badge. Keeping to tradition, the boys’ mothers made the presentations to their sons. The main award winners for session 2010-2011 are as follows:-

Anchor Section: Nairn Trophy for the best third year boy, Blair Russell; Captain David Anderson Shield for attendance, Ryan Elliott; Sports Trophies – 1, Carson Thompson; 2, Fergus Hill; 3, Blair Russell.

Junior Section: Best attendance, Matthew Scott, Ross Millar and Hayden Dear; Captain David Anderson Trophy for Achievement – Ciairan Porter and Matthew Scott.

Company Section: Best Drilled Company Boy, Nathan Dryburgh; Best Drilled Senior Boy, Sean Baird; Captain David Anderson Trophy for Achievement, Sean Baird; Captain John Ritchie for Endeavour, Nathan Dryburgh and Kieran Dear; Queen’s Badge, Sean Baird, Gareth Black and Christy Simpson.
