Visitors to Ninewells Hospital are invited to visit the Health Shop on Thursday, August 4, between 10am and 4pm where they will be able to pick up information on child safety and child accident prevention.

The Health Shop at Ninewells Hospital is promoting child safety and accident prevention during the month of August by hosting information stands.

NHS Tayside’s Health Improvement Project Officer Jodi Moodie will be manning the stand along with representatives from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Dundee City Council.

Jodie said: “We are pleased to be hosting the stand in the Health Shop as accident prevention and child safety are very important issues. Sometimes it is the smallest thing that can be overlooked which contribute to accidents for example storing medications in a place where a child can reach them or allowing children to cycle without bike helmets.

“Having representatives from the Scottish Fire and Rescue Service and Dundee City Council’s Home Safety on hand means that visitors have access to experts in the field of child safety and accident prevention who will be available to answer visitors’ questions.”

Visitors and staff were encouraged to stop by the stand where they could pick up information and advice on child accident prevention in the home, keeping safe online and outside which included advice on road safety, cycle safety, car seats and playing safely.

So if you are at the hospital and you have a few minutes to spare then why not take a moment and visit the stand to hear what you can to help reduce the risk of accidents and keep children safe.
