Promises galore up for auction at the East and Old Church

THE OUTREACH Committee at the East and Old Parish Church in Forfar is holding an auction of promises and silent auction this Saturday in the church, starting at 7 p.m.

Members of the congregation have amassed almost 60 promises, ranging from a trip to the Scottish Parliament in Edinburgh, a trip up Clova with tea for two at the Clova Hotel to window cleaning, weeding and a car valet.

A young member of the Groovy Gryphons has also promised to paint someone’s nails and the minister is offering afternoon tea for four at the manse.

Entry is by catalogue only which is priced at £5 and is available at the door on the night. This includes a glass of wine and nibbles.

Retired auctioneer Mr Christie from Glamis will oversee the auction of promises, which will be followed by a silent auction which will feature a variety of “as good as new” items (no clothing or shoes). Items for the silent auction can be handed in to the church any time during the week or between 1.30 and 3.30 pm. on Saturday. All proceeds will go to the church development fund.
