WORK is gathering pace at the St James’ Road site of the new ASDA supermarket.
Scaffolding adorns the original stone building as the majority of the former St James house is demolished to make way for the new superstore.
A spokesperson said the company was “progressing the development and are delighted to have received permission.”
News of the 270 full and part-time jobs being created at the new store has already seen a flurry of activity among prospective employees.
The spokesman added: “In terms of employment we will begin recruitment approximately three months prior to opening of the store. Current jobs will be advertised on our site www.asda.jobs”
