Praise from First Minister

THERE was a surprise in the post for local animal campaigner Daryl Beech last week when he received a personal letter from First Minister Alex Salmond.

The top politician contacted Daryl to pass on his congratulations for the work of Daryl’s charity, Easy Walkers, which had successfully re-homed its 50th animal.

In his letter Mr Salmond praised the charity for its “excellent work” and stated they should be “immensely proud” of their fund-raising achievements.

On a more personal level, he also praised Daryl for his quick-thinking when his mother became unwell.

Daryl explained: “I had a meeting with Shona Robison when my mum was ill. I had to phone NHS 24 and she was rushed to hospital where she spent 11 days in intensive care.

“She was on a ventilator and I was told she would have died if I hadn’t phoned NHS 24.

“My mum is a lot better now. I was really shocked and surprised to get a letter from Alex Salmond. He praised me for my quick thinking and for keeping a cool head. He also mentioned the fact Easy Walkers had re-homed its 50th animal, a collie cross from Forfar, and he wished us all the best for the future.”
