At a special Forfar branch meeting of the SNP last month, councillors Glennis Middleton and Lynne Devine were adopted as their prospective candidates for the council elections to be held on May 4.

First elected in 1995, Glennis Middleton has been a councillor for 22 years. She is currently the Angus Council spokesperson for Health and Social Care. She is also a non-executive director on the board of NHS Tayside. Glennis is also chair-person of Forfar Resource Store and a member of Forfar Day Care Centre management committee.

Lynne Devine has been a councillor since the last Council election in 2012. She has been Vice Convener of the Children and Learning Committee for 4 years and has particularly enjoyed visiting all the schools, primary and secondary, across Angus, as she was a teacher before becoming a councillor. Latterly she has also been Spokesperson on Economic Development which entails attending meetings with businesspeople in the tourist, manufacturing, energy, golf and food and drink industries to understand their needs for staff, accommodation and markets. She sits on various trusts, Deirdre Knight Centre committee, Twinning Association committee, and has just stood down from being convener of Forfar in Flower after 4 years.
