THE HEAVY and persistent rainfall in the Tayside area is resulting in isolated flooding and a great deal of surface water on the roads, which will make driving conditions more difficult.
Anyone who is travelling today should allow plenty of time for their journey, reduce their speed and drive according to the conditions. This includes keeping a safe distance from the vehicle in front and using dipped headlights where appropriate.
Large puddles and pools of water are collecting on roads in both rural and urban areas. Drivers should slow down approaching standing water to avoid risks of aqua planning. They should also give consideration to any pedestrians nearby.
With the forecast for the wet weather to continue, Tayside Police would advise people to make use of traffic information websites such as www.trafficscotland.org.
Anyone seeking information about weather and travel tune in to their televisions and radios, or refer to their newspapers.
