PREPARATIONS are hotting up for classes and activities starting next week in Eassie Hall, between Glamis and Newtyle.
The first yoga classes which start on Monday, September 3 at 6pm and Wednesday, September 5 at 1pm will be free for the first week. Organisers are hoping to encourage new members to join the classes with this free “come and try” week. Fees for the following five week session can be paid at these classes to register and secure a place for the term.
Tuesday night is Zumba night in Eassie Hall. It runs from 7pm to 8pm. This exercise to music is fun, enjoyable and a work-out too. Experience not required. Wear comfortable and loose clothing with trainers and remember to take a bottle of water. It is £3 per class payable on the night.
On Wednesday, September 5 at 7.30pm, Eassie and Nevay WRI meet for the first evening of their new monthly programme. Jim Houghton, a champion for the Special Olympics in 2013, will be speaker for the evening, so visitors and new members will be most welcome.
Meetings are held on the first Wednesday of each month in the ENKCA community cafe with a full and interesting programme of speakers, demonstrations and visits planned.
On Thursday, September 6 ceilidh dancing classes resume with Ann Martin, a sociable and enjoyable night which helps to keep feet nimbly moving in the right direction. Starting at 7.30 pm each week classes, which includes refreshments, costs £3
These very popular evenings, with about 40 attending, are helping to keep local traditional dance alive, as well as keeping dancers fit in mind and body. For more information on dance classes contact Ann Martin on 01575 560783.
Art classes will start again on the second and fourth Saturday of each month from 10-12 noon, open to all abilities even those who consider themselves ‘totally talentless’ who wish to sketch and draw while enjoying the beautiful views outside the hall. Cost £3 including refreshments.
The community classes are organised for the benefit of all and surplus funds are used for the upkeep of the building.
