The local school holidays will get off to a rocking start this weekend when Kirriemuir’s annual free live festival takes place.

And the line-up for this year’s Live in the Den is as strong as ever, with some of the best local bands around set to take to the stage in the beautiful surroundings of Kirrie Den from noon on Saturday

The day promises not to disappoint music fans with a packed programme featuring Emerald Sunday, Sonnet 65, The Restless Natives, Around 7, Vote for Lust, The Blend, The Commons and The DD8 Music Allstars. There will also be stalls, bouncy castles, a barbecue and fresh coffee and cakes from the Artisana vintage mobile tea room.

Graham Galloway, music development worker with DD8 music which organises the event, said Saturday should appeal to all ages.

He added: “We always get a fantastic crowd as the whole community gets behind it, and we also have stalls from different community groups which we encourage to come along, so it’s a proper community event.

“We have such a strong collection of local bands this year, with a mix of established older and younger acts and it’s a great opportunity for the young people who are just starting out.”

The event is completely free and is made possible by DD8 Music’s team of volunteers while it is funded by the money made by the group’s other annual festival, Bonfest.
