Tealing Community Council’s future is still in doubt - depspite a well-supported petition to restart the nomination process.

Nominations for the council close tomorrow (Friday, January 15), and they remain one short of the four nominations required to form the community council.

A total of 24 people signed a petition, which was delivered to the Returning Officer, prompting arrangements for the establishment of the community council. This came after just one nomination was received during the Angus-wide process in September/October.

Letters and nomination packs have been sent to all of the petition signatories.

Forms can also be obtained from the Returning Officer (Community Council Elections), Elections Office, Angus House, Orchardbank Business Park, Forfar, DD8 1AN, or downloaded from the elections page of our website.

Nomination papers must be submitted no later than 4pm on Friday, January 15.

If an election is contested, a Notice of Poll will be published on Thursday, January 28, and voting will take place commencing on Friday, February 12. The result of the election will be declared after the close of poll.

Anyone who wants further information or advice can contact the Returning Officer (Community Council Elections) on 01307 476226 or email elections@angus.gov.uk.
