No change of office-bearers

IT’S THE status quo for the office-bearers at Forfar Community Council after the body’s annual general meeting on Thursday.

Angus councillor Glennis Middleton took the chair to oversee the appointment of the main office-bearers, with Mrs Isobel Ross re-elected chairman, Pat Taylor re-elected vice-chairman, Lorna Mitchell was again appointed treasurer and Mrs Ross, with assistance from Mrs Taylor, is the secretary.

Councillor Middleton thanked the community councillors for all their hard work over the last year.

She said: “We don’t always agree but we always agree that what we seek is the best for Forfar.”

Resuming the role of chairman, Mrs Ross thanked the community councillors for their “hard work” and for having the confidence in her.

She said: “I ask a lot of you and you never let me down. We maybe don’t always agree but we get there in the end.”

She ran through the main events of the previous year, which included highs and lows.

There was the opening of the new ASDA store and the closure of the Abbeygate, the sale of Wellbrae Primary School, the Black Watch’s Homecoming parade and the Olympic torch coming through the town.
