National Lottery Awards seeking nominees

Have your say

Local organisations that have been successful in winning lottery funding over the last year are being invited to enter this year’s National Lottery Awards

A total of 19 groups attracted £172,000 of National Lottery funding to the county in 2015 with the Forfar Open Garden Scheme, which is creating a therapy garden in the town, being awarded £9,000 to help pay for facilities including mains electricity and a water supply. Other beneficiaries included arts, sports and heritage projects along with a number of community groups.

Any organisation that has received lottery funding now has the possibility of gaining nationwide acclaim by entering the awards. Winners will receive a £3,000 cash prize and national recognition at a ceremony broadcast on BBC One in October.

Awards are given across the seven categories of Sport, Heritage, Arts, Environment, Health, Education and Voluntary/Charity. Anyone wishing to nominate their favourite project can do so by tweeting @LottoGoodCauses with suggestions or calling 0207 293 3599 to find out more and to enter. Entries must be received by midnight on March 9.
