THE latest recipients of a £250 Forfar Roof Truss Company Limited sponsorship cheque is a Forfar organisation marking its centenary this year.
Society members Maureen Fenton and Lesley Ducat popped along to the Forfar Roof Truss Company headquarters at Orchardbank last Thursday to accept the cheque from Bill Smart.
Forfar Musical Society was founded in 2011 and, over the past one hundred years, it has provided the annual festive pantomime in Forfar and has, each spring, presented a variety of shows, such as “Oliver”, “Wizard of Oz” and “Sound of Music” to name but three of the favourtites
To mark its 100 years the society is to hold a supper dance in the Reid Hall this month, hoping to have in attendance many of the people who have been involved on and off stage in the many ways necessary to provide live entertainment in Forfar.
“We have a limited budget for this, as out funds are mainly allocated to the production of our shows, which can cost up to as much as £15,000 a time to stage,” explains a society spokesperson.
“We are run by a small but dedicated committee with the aim of keeping musical theatre in Forfar alive, and this grant will go a long way to helping us to celebrate 100 years of Forfar Musical Society.”
The Roof Truss Company sponsorship scheme continues monthly, with a £250 award up for grabs. Many local groups, individuals and organisations have benefited over the years. For full details on how you can apply for the award turn to page 20.
