Plans are continuing for the 2013 Angus Rotary Marafun, with the organisers announcing the sponsor of the event’s medals.
Brechin-based renewable energy experts Forster Energy have been announced as “Medals” sponsor.
The sixth marathon distance team event to be organised by the Rotary Club of Forfar, is to be held on Sunday, May 25.
A ‘Mini Mile’ race for under 15s is also to be run over a short circuit on Forfar’s main street prior to the main event. All proceeds from the day are to be donated to the Ninewells Cancer Campaign charity and other local charities.
Forster Energy, part of the Forster Group of companies, which includes Forster Roofing and Forster Industrial, has a long track record of supporting Tayside charitable and non charitable events.
Group chairman John Forster said: “I’m looking forward to cheering on the three Forster teams on the day. In fact the whole team here at Forsters are excited because Marafun fits perfectly with our approach to promoting healthy working lives.
“We also feel it presents a great opportunity for people of varying running abilities to get involved in a community-based event that promotes well-being and at the same time raises much needed funds for local charities”.
Dave Valentine, Angus Rotary Marafun convener said: “This is a tremendous boost for our all-Angus campaign. As medal sponsor, Forster Energy have certainly taken the lead in encouraging teams to enter for next year’s Marafun. I’m delighted to hear that so far 15 employees have been quick off their marks to express an interest in running and this will be a great example for firms across Angus to get on board.”
“Forster Energy have also committed to donating all the funds they raise to the main event charity Ninewells Cancer Campaign which is a great start to our fund-raising”.
