Kirriemuir-based company J & D Wilkie Ltd. is the latest local company to back this year’s Angus Rotary Marafun by sponsoring the programme.
The seventh marathon distance team relay event being organised by the Rotary Club of Forfar is to be held on Sunday, May 25.
A ‘Mini Mile’ race and ‘Family & Friends Fun Run’ is also to be run over a short circuit prior to the main event and all proceeds are to be donated to the Ninewells Cancer Campaign and other local charities.
J & D Wilkie Ltd, the 140-year-old textile company is the main sponsor for the production and printing of the programme for this year’s event. This will enable the Forfar Rotary organising committee to move forward confidently with plans for an informative and well produced design to provide an opportunity for Angus companies to promote their products and services to a large number of participants and spectators.
Jean-Christophe Granier, director of J & D Wilkie said: “We’re pleased to support what will be a great fun day for Angus while at the same time raising much needed funds for the charities concerned. As well as supporting the production of the programme we will be encouraging our employees and supplier companies to get behind the event and support it by running or simply going along and enjoying the day. After all, the event programme will summarise a host of opportunities for everyone to get involved but the most important aspect of this key Rotary event is for people to enjoy it and have fun”.
Scott Ballantyne, Forfar Rotary Club president said: “The programme will be a must-read for participants and spectators alike. It will contain detailed information about what is happening on the day; it will have a layout map of the town centre showing where everything is happening and it will tell visitors where they can find out more about what’s happening in Angus by clicking on www.angusahead.com. Companies wishing to support the programme with small ads can call me on 07775 875320”.
Dave Valentine, Marafun convener added: “We’re grateful to Jean-Christophe and everyone at J & D Wilkie for this show of support. I feel sure other local companies will come forward and take advertising space in our event programme”.
