Lots on offer at local libraries

Its holiday time again and Forfar Library is holding craft sessions on Wednesday morning from 10.30 to 11.30 a.m. Places are limited so make sure you pop in or give staff a phone to book your ticket.

Forfar Library will be having a book sale between October 17 and 31. Pop in and pick up a bargain. There will be fiction, non-fiction, junior books and audio books. Forfar Library had a very successful Ancestry.com demonstration with Gavin leading a full house. For anyone interested in family history this website which is available at your local library free of charge is a must.

Over the last few weeks Kirriemuir Library have displayed books with a Scottish theme; be they Scottish authors, stories set in Scotland, or information books on

the country we live in. In October, look out for a new collection of books about the Olympics.

Pop in to Kirriemuir Library to relive the heady days of London 2012, as well as the many previous Olympics, the biggest sporting competition in the world.

There are books on the ancient games which gave inspiration to the modern version we see today. Who knows, it might even inspire you to take up the 100 metres, equestrianism or perhaps even beach volleyball.

Kirriemuir Library is excited to launch a new book club for children in Primary 1, 2 and 3. The new group is to be called Bookmarks and is due to begin on Monday October, 21. The aim is to help children develop the reading habit and improve their reading confidence as well as being fun and enjoyable. For older children in primary 4 – 7 there is Kirrie Kool Kidz Chatterbooks which is all about having a good time in the library. Participants talk about books, reading, writing, authors and biscuits! Usually there is some craft activity too.
