Local shop to support the physically disabled

The Original Factory Shop in Forfar is set to make a difference to The Physically Disabled United Group after it has been chosen as its new charity partner for 2011.

Following an appeal to the community to nominate local causes, colleagues at the Castle Street store are gearing up to support the local organisation for the next 12 months.

A programme of fund-raising activities has been planned, with a minimum target of £500 looking to be raised for the charity throughout 2011.

A total of £344.25 was raised during a recent fund-raising event to mark the official launch of ‘Make A Difference’.

Store manager Angela Finlayson said: “We had a lot of local causes come forward this year. It wasn’t an easy decision but after considering each application carefully, we thought that we could really help to make a difference to The Physically Disabled United Group in 2011.

“Colleagues have got behind the campaign and we have lots of ideas that worked well last year. But we couldn’t do it without the support of our loyal customers and for that we are very grateful.”

The Original Factory Shop’s Make A Difference campaign first launched in 2010 donating over £50,000 to local causes across the UK.

Local groups are asked to write a letter of nomination the store to receive 12 months fund-raising support from the team. 2011 will be the second year of the campaign.
