Cyclists saddled up for a festival celebrating mountain biking last weekend.

The two-day event, which is now in its third year, saw cyclists from across Scotland flock to Reid Park on Saturday and Sunday.

The festival kicked off on Saturday with The Forfar Funduro where around 300 riders tackled seven timed stages across the local countryside, including some exciting quarry stages, and finishing in the event village with a head to head dual slalom race.

Other highlights included smoothie bikes, mountain bike races for all ages, a stunt airbag contest, demonstration bikes from top manufacturers and a cycleskills course.

The festival concluded on Sunday with the final round of the Scottish Cross Country Championship (SXC) where riders took on a tough multi-lap course across Balmashanner Hill and Reid Park.

The 2016 Angus Cycling Festival was organised by local not for profit group, Angus Cycle Hub, and Muckmedden Events. It was supported by Angus Bike Chain Cycling Club and The Robertson Group.

It was funded by contributions from the Angus Council Community Grant Scheme and Scotmid.

Entry to the event was free, however there was a charge for those taking part in the various events and activities. All the profits go back into developing cycling in Angus.
