The Murton Nature Reserve on the outskirts of Forfar has notched up a first for Scotland by launching a virtual tour on the web.

Families planning to visit Murton Trust’s farm and tearoom this year can walk around it first on the Web with the Google Business Photos virtual tour donated by Google photography business Mr Droogle.

The interactive marketing tool from the global search giant uses Street View® technology to allow potential visitors finding the wildlife trust, farm and tearoom via Google Search, Google Maps, Google+ or its website to take a tour around the farm and inside the tearoom 24/7 in the same way they ‘walk’ around the streets in Google Maps’ Street View®.

Having it also increases the search engine optimisation (SEO) of the charity’s website – making it appear higher in Google Search results.

Murton’s tour, a first for a nature reserve in Scotland, allows Web visitors to walk through the car park, take a peek at the nature reserve and go on to the tearoom and out around the farm’s animal attractions as well as the children’s playground.

Alan S. Morrison, the Forfar-based marketing manager for Mr Droogle, offered the tour to the trust as part of Mr Droogle’s charity policy.

Alan said: “We are delighted to support the trust and its fantastic staff and volunteers in their work for the community with this tour,”

Speaking about how the tour helps the trust, Al Borland said: “This offers our customers a unique way for viewing our facilities before visiting. Since it went live several customers have mentioned using the Google tour when planning their day out.”

You can view the Murton tour on their website at www.murtonwildlife.org.uk or directly on Google Maps at http://goo.gl/maps/8UtpB Companies or organisations interested in having their own virtual tour can find out more on the Mr Droogle website at www.mrdroogle.com
