Prior to their move to St Columba's Church, Jersey from St Margaret's, Forfar, Session Clerk, Maureen Fenton (left) made a presentation to the Rev David Logan and his wife, Catriona, on behalf of the congregation.

The Reverend David Logan held his final service at St. Margaret’s on Sunday, February 2 as he moves to take up a new post.

Minister at St. Margaret’s since 2009, The Rev. Logan has moved to Jersey to become the minister of St. Columba’s Church of Scotland.

The minister posted about the move on his blog shortly before leaving.

He said: “I’m sorry to be leaving Forfar and yes it is a big step for us to move lock stock and barrel so far away but if a minister does not go where they are called then they are denying their call to ministry. A new chapter begins!”

Speaking after his move to Jersey he said: “St. Margaret’s was my first charge and it was a big charge. But I thoroughly enjoyed myself - I’m already missing the couthyness of Forfar.

“My time in Forfar has set me up well for life over here, it’s quite similar - everyone knows everyone.”

The minister moved into the manse on Monday and is already settling in well. While his congregation is around half that of St. Margaret’s he is the only Church of Scotland minister in Jersey. He added: “It is great here there is real community spirit.”

He intends to continue blogging about his new life in Jersey - find him online at revdavidsblog.blogspot.co.uk
