A local Forfar company, Gowanbank Developments LLP, has recently submitted a planning application for a new housing development at the east of the town, between the Arbroath Road and Montrose Road.
The application seeks planning permission in principle and is for the erection of 63 houses including access, landscaping, associated works and demolition of property (Rosewood), Arbroath Road, Gowanbank, Forfar.
The application is classed as a ‘major’ development and has been the subject of three months of statutory pre-application consultation with the local community, following which changes have been made to the indicative site layout.
The ‘Rosie Road’, part of Angus Council’s Core Path Network, is to be re-graded to allow easier use and a generous provision of green space is included in this particularly secluded site.
Graham McFarlane, a director of Gowanbank Developments LLP said: “We are very excited about our proposals and keen to bring forward this scheme on land allocated within the adopted Angus Local Plan Review for houses.
“It will be a low density development of around 10 houses per hectare.
“The indicative site layout demonstrates an understanding of the natural character and undulating topography of the site including landscape features and orientation of the suggested house plots.
“We are confident that the development will create a high quality residential environment and contribute positively to the visual amenity of the area.”
Levels of interest from prospective home owners are high and the build is expected to commence this year.
