Town centre businesses and residents have been consulted on further changes to the current traffic scheme in Castle Street to increase parking.
Angus Council is proposing to amend existing waiting restrictions and widen the pavement outside Chapter & Verse at number 112 and change the waiting restrictions to provide additional parking outside Jarvis Brothers at number 60.
Existing parking restrictions at the north end of Castle Street would remain in place and there have been no proposed changes to the current traffic flow.
The door for future changes to the street, to improve parking and service provision, was left open last January when the permanent one-way system between Canmore Street and Myre Road was approved by councillors.
At the time it was felt that the retention of the system, which had been trialled over a year, would give some leeway for further measures to make the street more shopper and pedestrian-friendly. It was also noted that further consideration could be given to traffic control in Canmore Street following complaints from residents, who felt it was unsuitable to deal with an increased volume of two-way traffic.
