A popular Forfar eatery is proving to be hot stuff with a nomination for a national accolade in this year’s Scottish Curry Awards.
Nominations have now closed but the Curry Club takeaway, in Castle Street has made it to the shortlist for the North east Takeaway of the Year.
With well over 9,000 nominations coming in from all over Scotland, the race to be crowned at this year’s awards ceremony guarantees to be an extremely tight contest and the Curry Club is up against takeaways from Perth, Dundee and Aberdeen.
The seventh Scottish Curry Awards will take place at the Thistle Hotel, Glasgow on April 28 and is set to be a glittering occasion. Judges will, meanwhile, visit the shortlisted restaurants and takeaways from all over the country who are battling it out to make the best curry in the country.
Yasmin Mahmood, from event organisers Oceanic Consulting, said: “The awards have grown from strength to strength every year, as we see an increase of nominations for those hidden gems as well as the more well-known curry houses. All the finalists are truly deserving and we wish everyone the best of luck.”
The awards also feature the Curry King or Queen Award and the Lifetime Achievement Award, which will stay under wraps until the evening itself.
