Angus Councillor Ronnie Proctor has contacted the local authority’s roads department following work in St Malcolm’s Wynd in Kirriemuir.
Mr Proctor told last month’s meeting of Kirriemuir Community Council he was not happy with the state the pavement had been left in, and that he had contacted the head of roads regarding the situation.
On a positive note, he informed the meeting potholes in Brechin Road and Marywell Brae had been filled in.
Community Council chairman David Milne hit out at the number of new holes being dug up by utility companies in Kirriemuir - before others are filled in.
He said: “Before they are allowed to dig up more holes they should fill the other ones in. It’s a mess.”
Commenting on the work in St Malcolm’s Wynd a spokesperson for Angus Council said: “We are currently in discussions with the contractor about this matter.”
She continued: “Utility companies have statutory powers to place their apparatus in the road network. The companies are responsible for completing any roadworks to a national specification and give a guarantee period.
“Any concerns regarding the standard of such works should be reported to ACCESSLine on 08452 777 778.”
