A Kirriemuir entrepreneur was named as one of the top prizewinners in this year’s Think Big business competition.

Bill McLeod’s plans to develop, ‘flik magazine’ impressed the judges in the Business Growth sector. Bill began his business just over a year ago from his home and overnight became the editor, salesman and distribution driver.

He said: “No matter what stage in life you are at, if you put the hard work in, you can achieve anything.”

Paul Lawson and partner Diana Stewart from Grippoz Ltd in Alyth took the New Ideas prize for their business plan to manufacture and sell an innovative pushrim cover for self-propelled wheelchairs.

The idea for Grippoz came from Paul Lawson who wanted to provide Diana, a wheel chair user herself, with greater mobility.

The Think Big Business Ideas Competition is sponsored by Angus Centre for Enterprise, Angus Council, Dundee and Angus Chamber of Commerce, Dundee and Angus College, Federation of Small Businesses, Henderson Loggie Chartered Accountants, Howdens, Mackays and Thorntons.
