Strathmore Highland Games will be held in the stunning grounds of Glamis Castle on Sunday, June 8 by permission of the Earl of Strathmore.
Lord Strathmore will also act as Chieftain on the day while Lady Strathmore will present the prizes.
The games are set to host all the traditional events including athletics, cycling, highland dancing, solo piping, pipe bands, drum majors and the traditional heavy events such as shot put, hammers, weight for distance and height and of course the caber, which was cut on Glamis Estate.
Also on the day will be a large number of stalls for people to browse and a Kids’ Fair with bouncy castle, slides and other attractions. Organisers are also thrilled to be holding the Scottish Highland Games Association British Tug of War Championship.
Charlie Murray, chairman, confirmed the support of several of the games’ regular backers as well as a number of first time sponsors who have decided to give their backing to the event.
Mr Murray said: “We are pleased to have the support of our usual long-term sponsors, and to our new sponsors who have kindly come on board to support the games. We are also grateful to our friends at Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club who give valid support and help during the year and on the lead up to the games and our loyal band of helpers.
“As a committee, safety of events is of paramount importance as are the views of the new Police Scotland force which on this occasion we have found a pleasure to work with.”
Tickets for the Games are priced at £7 for adults, £3 for children, students and OAPs and a Family Ticket costs £16. There will be a free car park.
The official opening of the Games will be conducted by the City of Brechin Pipe Band under Pipe Major Craig Black at 12.30 p.m.
