Community workers in Kirriemuir and Brechin are setting up their own version of a famous social experiment to find out how connected local communities are.
The experiments, run by Voluntary Action Angus, will take place in Kirriemuir and Brechin during August and will follow the six degrees of separation concept, originally trialled by Stanley Milgram’s “small world experiment” in 1967 that tracked chains of acquaintances in the United States.
The results of the local experiment will help Voluntary Action Angus map social connections within Kirriemuir and Brechin. Connections which they believe are at the very heart of a healthy, caring community.
