Staff at Hannam’s in Forfar have had reason to celebrate two years running as their staff have taken the top awards at Dundee College.
This year Kirstie Curren took top honours while in 2012 it was her colleague, Lynsey Farquharson, who took the top award of Student of the Year.
And their boss Jillian Hannam is understandably thrilled with the recognition her staff have received. She said: “We have been absolutely privileged that two years in a row it has been our staff who have won this award.
“It’s really good that Kirstie and Lynsey have both won. They are both 20, both did their level two together and they went through school together.
“Training is something we really like to focus on here at Hannam’s and we have a lot of training coming up in the near future.
“We are all about education here and it’s great that we get to work with the local colleges.”
Kirstie added: “I’ve been working since I was 15 but it’s only really since I came to Hannam’s that things have really looked up for me.”
While Kirstie works in the salon from Wednesdays through to Saturdays her future lies in session work and competitions.
Jillian said: “Kirstie is looking to go into doing more session work and she will be entering a competition in association with GHD to get a chance to work at London Fashion Week.”
Meanwhile, Lynsey is working hard to move towards a management position in the salon and is back at college studying for her NVQ.
Jillian added: “I pride myself on having homegrown staff and I don’t want to poach people from other salons.
“It’s the training here that really makes us stand out.”
