THRILL seekers from across Scotland are gearing up for an exciting white knuckle, white water rafting challenge next month.

Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s exhilarating White Water Rafting event, over the weekend of March 23 and 24, is set to be one of the most intense and exciting challenges of the year for the charity.

It is an amazing adventure requiring teamwork, determination and courage to safely negotiate some of the fastest white water in Scotland between Aberfeldy and Grandtully on the internationally graded River Tay.

Chest Heart and Stroke Scotland’s fund-raising manager, Paul Corrigan, said: “Teams of eight daredevils are invited to enter the race which combines a break-neck three mile flat water race followed by three miles shooting of the rapids. Your crew will be pushed to their limits for two hours of intense physical competition and heart stopping action. Do you have what it takes to complete the challenge?

“Everyone is warmly welcomed on arrival with low alcohol bucks fizz and a hot roll and after the race there’s a well deserved warming two-course buffet at the award winning Inn on the Tay.

“Everyone completing the challenge receives a souvenir medal and the coveted white water rafting event trophy is awarded to the winners of each race section.

“The event is always popular so to secure your place all that’s needed is a deposit of £160 (£20 per paddler) which will be deducted from the minimum sponsorship of £1,000, that’s only £125 per paddler. All money raised will be used by Chest, Heart & Stroke Scotland to improve the lives of people in Scotland living with chest, heart and stroke illness so pester your pals, badger your buddies or fetch along your family and put together a team. All equipment is supplied and a fully trained instructor will accompany each team to ensure your safety.”

All facilities and equipment are provided by the rafting centre and everyone is warmly welcomed on arrival with a glass of low alcohol ‘Bucks Fizz’ and a hot breakfast roll. On completion of your challenge, there is a warming two-course buffet at the adjacent Inn on the Tay to rejuvenate you!

Everyone completing the challenge receives a souvenir medal and each team gets a white water rafting certificate to commemorate their achievement. The coveted ‘WWR Trophy’ is awarded to the winners of the river race section. All money raised will be used by Chest Heart & Stroke Scotland to change the lives of people living through the toughest of circumstances. It costs almost £1,000 a year to provide all the specialist care and equipment that a person disabled through stroke will require to attend one of our support groups.
