Which writer wins?

PRIZE WINNER: Nicholas Fletcher from Whitehills Primary was winner of the Best Alternative Cover.

EARLIER this month, Forfar schools met at Strathmore Primary to celebrate the work they had been doing through Which Writer Wins.

Several children from each school described the work they had been doing in class, gave examples of their detailed and informative book reviews and announced their favourite author as voted for by their class.

Forfar library staff supported the schools during this term by visiting each class to discuss the authors with the children and the work they had been doing.

They also supported the event by having a Deal or No Deal activity which gave each school a chance to win a £50 book voucher with Inverarity the eventual winners.

All the schools were also given an opportunity to enter the Library competition for the best alternative front cover and book review. The lucky winners were from Whitehills and Letham.

The final announcement of the morning was for the overall favourite author from all the classes, this was a runaway victory for Kaye Umansky with 68 votes.

Thanks were extended to the Strathmore Parents’ Group which donated refreshments for all those attending the event.
