Urgent need for short break carers in Angus

BARNARDO’S Scotland is launching a campaign during Share the Care Week from March 18 until 26 to encourage more people to become a short break carer to support a disabled child and their family.

A survey carried out on behalf of Short Breaks Network last year showed that only three out of 10 people have heard about the opportunity to become short break carer.

Once people were aware about the opportunity, however, one in five consider becoming a carer.

More short break carers are urgently needed to look after disabled children on a regular basis.

This can be anything from a few hours a week to an overnight stay once a month.

Training is provided and an allowance is paid for expenses.

If you would like to find out more information about becoming a carer then you can call 01244 624 090 or visit the website www.barnardos.org.uk.
