Struck by car in North Street

Tayside Police are appealing for witnesses after a pedestrian was struck by a car in North Street in Forfar in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Police officers attended the road traffic collision at about 2.45 a.m, on Sunday in North Street, near to its junction with Arbroath Road.

A silver Ford Mondeo struck a pedestrian who was crossing North Street.

A 51 year old male was conveyed to Ninewells Hospital, Dundee, with head and leg injuries. At the time of going to press on Monday his condition was described as serious but not life threatening. The driver of the car was not injured.

Tayside Police has appealed to anyone who witnessed or has any information about the collision to contact them on 0300 111 2222 or contact any police officer, as they may have information useful to the enquiry.

Meanwhile, police officers in the town are investigating the theft of a charity box from the Queen Street Tavern in Forfar sometime between Saturday, December 8, and Tuesday, December 11.

The charity box, which sat on the bar, was green in colour with MacMillan Cancer Support written in white lettering.
