SOME HOPE FOR FUTURE OF ROYAL HOTEL

AS regular users of the Royal Hotel in Forfar re-arrange venues for their various meetings and activities, there was a glimmer of hope that the doors may, once again, open at the popular town centre venue.

Four days after the doors closed for good last Monday, the hotel's owners revealed they have begun moves to bring the premises back into use.

The "closed" signs went up at the 21-bedroom former coaching inn last Monday following a shock announced by its leaseholder the previous week.

Around 20 full time and part-time staff are understood to have lost their jobs as a result and the owners, Oxford Hotels and Inns Management Ltd, were tight lipped about plans for the buildings future.

However, last Thursday they issued a short statement which offered some hope for the future.

They stated: "Oxford Hotels and Inns Management Ltd can confirm that it has appointed an agent to facilitate the lease of The Royal Hotel.

"We are therefore currently endeavouring to lease the property again."
