KIND-HEARTED locals have handed over a cheque for £270 to the Isla Unit at Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre in Forfar.

The money was raised by former pupils of Forfar Academy who came together at a ‘Class of ’74’ reunion party held recently at the Plough Inn.

The special event was organised by a handful of dedicated local ex pupils and included Lynn Richardson, Lynn Hally, Linda Bonnar, Lorraine Simpson, Judy Watt, Heather Whitton and Joseph Balneaves.

The reunion party marked the 50th birthday milestone for the pupils from the class of ’74 and more than 70 former academy pupils went along and joined in the fun. The evening provided an opportunity for old school friends to catch up as well as donate to Whitehills.

Isla Unit ward manager Nigel Clubb accepted the cheque from Lynn Richardson and Lorraine Simpson.

Lynn said: “Everyone attending the reunion had celebrated their 50th birthday and we decided to mark this special milestone not only by holding a reunion party, but also by raising funds for a local charity.

“As many of us have had family and friends in the Isla Unit at Whitehills we wanted to do something for patients as well as show our appreciation to the staff for all their care and kindness.”

Nigel said: “I would like to say thank you to everyone who very kindly donated, the money will be used to buy a new DVD player and a selection of DVDs for patients in the unit to enjoy.”
