Scottish local council elections will take place on Thursday, May 3 and Angus Council is reminding residents of the alternative ways of voting available to them.

Voting by post has become a popular option; offering an easy and convenient way of voting, particularly for anyone unable to get to a polling station.

Anyone who is 18 or over and who is on the Electoral Register can apply for a postal vote - for just one election, for a specific time period, or for a permanent postal vote.

A number of Angus voters have already taken up this option and this week registered voters in rural areas who have not already opted to vote by post are being sent information with details of how to apply.

The postal voting information leaflet is also available on the council’s election website at www.angus.gov.uk/elections.

Postal voters are automatically sent a ballot paper, which can then be completed from the comfort of their home before being returned in the prepaid envelope supplied.

Residents who wish to register to vote or to apply for a postal vote can find out more at www.aboutmyvote.com
