POLICE WARNING AFTER FORFAR BREAK-IN

TAYSIDE Police are asking residents to be on the alert after a housebreaking to Scottish Water premises in Forfar, some time since May 30.

Numerous items of clothing, including, polo-shirts, boiler suits, fleeces and high-visibility jackets, all bearing the Scottish Water logo were stolen.

There is an obvious concern that these items of clothing may be used by persons in an attempt to gain access to members of the public's homes, on the pretence of being legitimate employees of Scottish Water.

The public are advised that should anyone claiming to be from Scottish Water attend at their address, they should always ask to see an identification card.

If unsure, visitors should be asked to wait outside whilst Scottish Water is contacted to confirm identity.

Anyone who has any information that could assist enquiries should call Tayside Police on 0300 111 2222, or speak to any officer.

Alternatively they can call the charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
