POLICE PROBE THEFTS IN FORFAR-KIRRIEMUIR AREA
TAYSIDE Police officers in the Forfar and Kirriemuir areas are investigating two separate thefts which took place over the weekend.
In Kirriemuir, police are appealing for information following the theft of a bike from a front garden in Knowehead, some time between 8pm on Friday, February 12, and 8am on Saturday, February 13.
The bike in question is a black-coloured Assassin mountain bike. Anyone with information that could lead to its recovery should call 0300 111 2222.
Police are also investigating the theft of about 300-litres of kerosene from a farm on the edges of Forfar at the weekend.
Two barrels of fuel were stolen from South Mains Farm, which lies off an unclassified road running between Lochlands and Ladenford, some time between 5 pm on Friday, February 12, and 5.15 pm on Saturday, February 13.
Given the weight of the barrels it is likely that it required more than one person to carry out this crime and a large vehicle would have been needed to take the stolen property away.
Anyone who was in the area and who saw or heard anything suspicious should call 0300 111 2222.
Police are also carrying out enquiries after a Blackberry mobile phone, worth 350, was stolen from the changing rooms at Lochside Leisure Centre in Craig O' Loch Road.
The theft happened some time between 1.05 pm and 2 pm on Friday, February 12.
Elsewhere in the town, police are carrying out enquiries after two DVD players were stolen during a break-in to Tesco's Castle Street store. The Technika DVD players were taken shortly after 12.30 am on the morning of Monday, February 15.
Anyone who has information that could assist enquiries should call 0300 111 2222.
