THE FIRST Forfar Roof Truss Company cheque of the year has been presented to Strathmore Primary School in Forfar to help fund an adventure playground.

The Strathmore Parent Council’s application caught the judges’ eyes and on Friday representatives visited to company to pick up the cheque.

In their application, chairperson Jacqui Williamson explained they are planning to build an outdoor adventure playground which will include trim trail equipment, various movable equipment including picnic tables with activity tops, ball catchers, sand pit, outdoor dominoes and non-movable items including a weather station, music panels, traversing wall and a dance stage.

She said: “This would provide a much needed fun and educational environment for the children of Strathmore Primary School to use on a daily basis. The school has approximately 350 children who would benefit from this playground we are trying to provide. Our aim is to support the school to provide a safe environment which encourages optimum learning opportunities, therefore improving social skills along with fun and, importantly, fitness.”

l If you or an organisation you know could benefit from a cheque for £250, turn to page 31 to find out how to apply for the monthly donation.
