THE QUEEN Street Tavern changed hands on Thursday when Pam Milne moved on to pastures new after over 10 years of running the popular Forfar pub.

Pam, the landlady, decided she would start afresh down south in Wiltshire area towards the end of November last year and set the date for her last day of business as Thursday, January 31.

She passed the milestone of running the pub for a decade on November 26 last year.

At the time, Pam was yet to make up her mind as to what she wanted to do but said she will take time to think about it. She also plans to stay in the trade.

Pam said: “I had to close due to the recession. I love what I do. I’m just finding it a struggle to survive.”

Her daughter is at university and Pam will be coming back to the Forfar area to visit her.

Luckily for the 10 staff, Dundee-based business owner George Finlay decided to take on the lease of the premises since Friday, February 1, as well as taking on the employment of the 10 staff who are currently there.

Chairman of the Forfar Tangent Club Mary White wished Pam good luck with her move and amongst the presentations made to Pam was a silk scarf which was a gift from the members.

Pam said it had been an absolute pleasure to serve the ladies during their monthly meetings over the many years.
