Packed programme for Tartan Festival with various local events
The TARTAN Day Scotland Festival 2013 runs from March 29 until April 7 – just in time for the start of the school holidays.
The packed programme of events features many activities which are ideal for families and young festival-goers. Pictavia at Brechin is offering free admission for children. In addition, public libraries throughout Angus are hosting a variety of children’s activities, including competitions, stories from the Tartan Book Bug, craft and story afternoons and Scottish storytelling sessions. There will also be a Tartan Craft Day at Kirriemuir’s Gateway to the Glens Museum, a tartan teddies day out at Crombie Country Park and, from March 29 until April 2, an Easter Trail at Monikie Country Park.
Throughout Easter weekend (March 30/31), young visitors to Glamis Castle will be able to enjoy listening to the castle’s storyteller and have a chat with a tartan-clad Highlander. For older and more adventurous youngsters, on April 7, the Free Wullie event at Monikie Country Park features a climb to the top of a high tower, a daring ‘leap of faith’ and a 160m escape down a zip line.
Strathmore Vintage Vehicle Club is running a unique display of vintage vehicles manufactured in Scotland at Bridge View House, Glamis from April 1 to 6.
