MILLIONAIRE TONY MAKES RETURN VISIT TO LIVERPOOL'S 'BEIRUT'

FOLLOWING a terrifying first visit to run-down Anfield, millionaire and ex-Para Tony Banks is returning to Liverpool for the next instalment of Channel 4's Secret Millionaire, which is due to be screened next month.

In the last series, the show's producers were forced to pull the Forfar businessman out of the rundown Anfield estate when violence flared and he was targeted by yobs.

The care home entrepreneur was the first Secret Millionaire they've been forced to move for safety reasons.

Tony had a frightening ordeal as youths set fire to cars and houses and threw bricks at the building he was staying in.

Tony described the area as being 'like Beirut'.

After spending a week undercover, the Falklands veteran donated 126,000 to the area on his visit, to numerous deserving charities and individuals in one of Liverpool's poorest areas.

"A lot of good people live amongst the chaos," said Banks.

He hopes to see the positive effect that the money has had when he returns for Secret Millionaire Changed my Life, which is due to be screened on April 12 (subject to change).

The show will also feature Tony's fundraising 'yomp' across the Falkland Islands in aid of Combat Stress.

In the first show Tony met an Iraq veteran called Lee Sanger, who suffered with Post-traumatic Stress Disorder. This meeting inspired Tony, who is a Falklands veteran, to raise more money and to face his own demons.

Tony is chairman of the Forfar-based Balhousie Care Group - worth an estimated 50 million.

He completed active service in the Falklands with Parachute Regiment 2 Para.

Recent Balhousie achievements include: Fastest growing company in Scotland 2008 – Virgin Fast Track 100; Finalist – National Business Awards '08 - '09; Finalist – Scottish Care National Awards '08; Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year '08 - '09; Finalist of the Care Business Development Achiever of the Year category of the Scottish Care Awards 2008; Finalist of The Tenon Entrepreneur of the Year Award category of The National Business Awards for Scotland 2008, sponsored by Orange and Finalist in the Multiple Care Home Operator of the Year category of the Scottish Care National Awards 2007.

Tony is also a supporter of various charities including Daisy UK and Combat Stress.
