LIVE IN THE DEN A GREAT HIT WITH THE KIRRIE CROWD
THE sun was shining for Kirriemuir's very own music festival, Live in the Den, as the crowds came out in force to check out the event's very strong line up on Saturday.
While weather reports suggested that rain could spoil the day, nothing could have been further from the truth as the sun welcomed openers Big Big Sound, who wowed the crowd with their blend of ska, hip hop and drum 'n' bass.
Local lads Sinclairs Happy Hour were up next and entertained the audience with their lively set, before The Trade emerged to a warm welcome by their army of fans.
The band did not disappoint, and showed exactly why they are making such big waves across the country at the moment.
Another band making waves are Edinburgh quartet State of Affairs, and they proved a popular addition to the bill with a set of catchy songs culminating in an energetic finish to blow everyone away.
Emerald Sunday mixed covers with original efforts to great effect and the Algarves entertained their home crowd with a set of energetic indie rock songs.
Sonnet65 are Live in the Den veterans and proved why they keep getting asked back with a popular set mixing contemporary cover versions with their own songs to great effect.
The day was running late, but that didn't stop Fingerprint and F 'n' 3 G's putting in excellent performances, each band belting out sing along anthems with their sets of catchy cover versions.
The Longest Line played in the sumo suits which had been on offer to wrestle in during the day, but proved they had more to them than just image with a strong set of ska and punk music.
Late additions the A-Bombs then gave the crowd more punk to enjoy before Assasin8's set of Kings of Leon covers kept the onlookers energised.
Forfar band The White Light closed the event, and the band put in a fantastic performance to show exactly why they made it to the final of the Sun's "winadeal" competition.
Festival organisers DD8 Music were extremely pleased with the day, and would like to thank everyone for all the support that they have received in the build up to the event.
With turnout estimated around 300, and the quality of bands the highest the festival has seen DD8 Music hope that it will show the positive impact of young people making music within the town.
