Lippen Care delighted with kind donation

two STRATHMORE rugby players took on an epic challenge to raise funds for local charity Lippen Care.
Stuart Cameron and Ian Matheson cycled to every single one of their away fixtures for a season and in so doing raised £1,137 for the cause.
The challenge took them all over Scotland including Hamilton RFC in the south and Orkney RFC in the north. In total they cycled 1,205 miles.
As part of the challenge they also undertook two “gruelling” overnight trips on the A9. The first was on January 4 to Orkney only for the match to be abandoned due to a frozen pitch. The second was on February 17 when they arrived at Highland RFC in Inverness cold and wet at 5.15 a.m.
The dynamic duo’s longest trip was to Thurso last September when they were joined by Raymond Moug and Peter Hargreaves. They also cycled to Thurso to meet last weekend’s opposition, Caithness, and made it a total of 264 miles. One of the cyclists was even brave enough to cycle back!
Last week, Stuart and Ian presented John Symington, treasurer of Lippen Care, with the cheque.
Lippen Care is committed to promoting high quality palliative care throughout Angus and their Strathmore Hospice forms part of the newly built Whitehills Health and Community Care Centre.
