FUN ALL YEAR ROUND AT FORFAR FOUR SEASONS

A POPULAR local group for schoolchildren in the area is the Forfar Four Seasons Out of School Club which meets in the community wing of Forfar Academy.

Meeting between 3 pm and 6 pm during school term, the club can cater for a maximum of 60 children per session.

The club is staffed by acting play leader Claire Robson, her deputy Hazel Murray and play assistants Chloe Gibson, Betty Knight, Jayne Tait, Craig Stirling, Katrina Smeaton and Theresa Byrne.

A wide range of activities is available for the kids in three rooms at the community education wing. The TV room is utilised for play station, computer and board games and as a homework area.

The recently redecorated common room can be used for dancing, acting and other activities such as construction and messy play.

Finally, there is the 'Mats' room, a carpeted area where the kids can enjoy quiet play time and team games.

Outdoors, there is a large grassed and concrete area which can be used for cycling and ball games.

Staff members have undertaken training in Angus Council's Active Schools Tops programme through which kids can learn many sporting skills.

The Forfar Four Seasons Out of School Club is a charity and relies on fund-raising and the support of parents to run the committee.

"While we can cater for a maximum of 60 children per session we currently have a number of places available," explained a club spokesperson.

"We recently passed our regular Care Commission inspection and are on a constant improvement plan to keep the club safe, enjoyable and stimulating for all children to experience."

In addition to the 3 pm to 6 pm sessions during school term, full day sessions are also available for some of the school holidays periods - and full details are available by contacting staff members.

During the holiday periods, various events and trips are organised. Past activities have included swimming, bowling and trips to the Sea Life Centre, Deep Sea World, the Foam Factory and Blair Drummond Safari Park to name but a few.
