Forfar street evacuated after grenade found

TAYSIDE Police are in attendace in a Forfar Street after workmen found what appears to be a hand grenade.

Local resdents have been evacuated whilst the area is made safe.

A spokesperson for Tayside Police said: “Tayside Police were called to a vacant flat in Forfar’s Stedfast Lane at about 11.25 a.m. today after workmen found what appears to be a hand grenade.

“The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were immediately alerted and are attending to carry out further enquiries and ensure the device is safe. Initial examination indicates it is a practice grenade.

A cordon has been established around the address as a precaution”.
