Forfar grenade: update

TAYSIDE Police have confirmed the hand grenade found by workmen at a vacant Forfar flat this morning is a training device.

Officers were called to the address in Stedfast Lane at about 11.25 a.m. today after workmen found the object.

The Explosive Ordnance Disposal (EOD) were immediately alerted and on attendance confirmed initial indications that the object was a practice grenade.

It was removed by EOD personnel and a precautionary cordon that had been in place around the immediate area was lifted. No one required to be evacuated during the incident.
