FORFAR COUPLE'S DIAMOND DAY

A WELL-KNOWN Forfar couple clocked up sixty years of marriage on Tuesday (today).

David and Amy Patullo, who were married in Forfar Old Parish Church on December 15, 1949, marked their diamond day with a get-together for family and friends in the lounge area at Springfield Sheltered Housing Complex on Saturday, followed by a family meal at the Strathmore Arms, Glamis, on Sunday.

Born and brought up in Forfar, Mr Patullo was educated at the East School and Forfar Academy, before embarking on a career that saw him track a career from the railways to the post office.

He rose from cleaner to driver with LMS during 22 years 'on the railways' before joining Royal Mail, operating out of Forfar Post Office for 23 years.

Amy, also born and brought up in Forfar, and educated at the North School and Forfar Academy, was a shop assistant in her earlier years, before bringing up a family.

Mr and Mrs Patullo enjoyed bowling, and both were members of the Boyle Park Bowling Club for many years, Amy a past president of the ladies section.

Both are also members of Forfar East & Old Parish Church, David having served 32 years as an elder.

In her younger years, while bringing up the family, Mrs Patullo was a member of a strong ladies committee serving the 2nd Forfar Boys' Brigade.

Mr Patullo has long been interested in sporting events.

In addition to his bowling, having started off representing the railway in competition, he also enjoys football and cricket, being a season ticket holder at Station Park and a member of Strathmore Cricket Club.

Mr and Mrs Patullo have three sons, George, Ernest and David, eight grandchildren and one great grandson.
