The QUEEN Street Tavern’s last day of business will be Thursday, January 31 next year, writes Hannah Messer.
Pam Milne, the current landlord, has decided to start afresh down south in the Wiltshire area.
Pam passed the 10 year milestone of running the pub on November 26 this year. She said: “I’ve had to close due to the recession. I love what I do I’m just finding it a struggle to survive.”
Pam is not yet sure what she is going to do when she moves. She added: “I’ve not made my mind up yet what I will do but I will take time to think about it. I will certainly stay in the trade.”
Her daughter is at university and Pam will be coming back to the Forfar area to visit her.
A spokesperson for the owners of the premises, Belhaven, said: “Pam has done a wonderful job running the Queen Street Tavern and we’d like to thank her for all her hard work over the past 10 years. We are sure the community will join us in wishing her well for the future.
“We are actively recruiting for a new licensee to take this business forward and would love to hear from anyone local who might be interested. Anyone interested in running the business should call 0845 607 5330.”
Belhaven say that the pub ideally requires a hands on tenant with an eye for detail and that the the ideal candidate should have strong customer service skills to enable them to develop the existing food business and increase the wet turnover.
The Queen Street Tavern is a well known eating and meeting establishment with a real potential to increase both drink and food sales.
The trading areas consist of the public bar and a 50-seater lounge bar/restaurant.
There is an external smoking area and car park to the rear of the premises and a flat above the pub comprising two bedrooms, a lounge with an open plan kitchen and a bathroom.
