FORFAR and District Committee last week decided not to appoint a crossing patrolman for the children attending Wellbrae School at the Victoria Roads and Brechin Road junction.
The request for the crossing patrol first came from the parents in the area.
The committee reached their decision not to recommend to the County Council such an appointment after the Depute Director of Education stated that the County Road Surveyor had surveyed the problem, including the use of traffic lights he rejected.
The police report was also against the patrol because of the small number of children involved.
The headmaster at the school stressed that although the number of children was small, the roads in question are very busy and a dangerous thoroughfare.

THE FORFAR Christian Aid Committee held a successful and well attended Charity Concert in the Reid Hall, Forfar, on Saturday and an impressive sum of £600 was raised.
Top of the bill was the local radio and recording artist Valerie Dunbar who is well known to people who tune in to Radio Tay.
She was ably supported by the Angus Strathspey and Reel Society under the baton of Angus Cameron, accompanied by George Scott on the piano.
Also performing were the Sandra Wright Dancers, Sandy Ingram on the fiddle, Joss Esplin on the guitar, Alan Morrison and Donald Webster.

A LONG-ESTABLISHED Angus garage is set to close.
Denside Motors, of Glenogil, near Forfar, is being sold off this week by its owner.
The garage has been operating for many years, but the proprietor now wants to concentrate on car sales. The disposal sale is being handled by Forfar based Tayside Motor Auctions.
The sale starts at 11.30 a.m. and will be held at the Denside Motors premises.
Some 750 lots are expected to be auctioned off on Saturday.
Meanwhile, the final 300 lots of Angus District Council surplus nursery stock will be available for sale at TMA’s Carseview Road premises this Friday.
